PCSA Need

Tables

The following table gives the full-time equivalent primary care physicians (FTEs) that are present and those that are required for each primary care service area (PCSA). The last column gives the difference between the FTEs present and the FTEs required for each PCSA, so that a negative difference indicates a deficiency of PCPs while a positive difference indicates a surplus. The model is based on the average number of visits per year required by a patient in each of 13 different age groups, and the average number of visits per year for an FTE. The default value of the later number is based on an average of 20 visits per day for five work days per week, and for 48 work weeks per year for a total of 4800 visits per year. But you can adjust the average FTE visits per year with the scrollbar and the table will update automatically. For more detail, see the methods page. You may also select rows in the table and see the corresponding PCSAs highlighted in the map below. Click on a selected row to de-select and remove the highlight.
